Welcome to SIDE

Founded in 1918, School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) is Western Australia's leading K-12 distance education provider. Thousands of students across Western Australia and the wider world undertake their education with specialist teachers based in Leederville, an inner suburb of Perth. This website is for Kindergarten through to Year Seven. Secondary schooling at SIDE can be accessed at  SIDE Secondary.

SIDE Primary School staff pride themselves on the partnerships they build with their students and families. Distance is no challenge to our highly skilled and motivated staff. We deliver the Western Australian Government School curriculum using a blended model, including especially designed print materials, Centra, our web conferencing system, Moodle, our learning management system and online resources.

SIDE Primary is a school like many other Western Australian Government schools with the exception being our students are not face to face in a classroom with their teacher and peers.  Parents/Home Tutors work on a daily basis with their children in partnership with the SIDE Primary School teacher who is accountable for student performance.

SIDE Primary School has a strict enrolment policy.  Meeting the criteria is dependent on geographical isolation, travel commitments or medical referral.  Current Western Australian Department of Education policy does not allow home schoolers to enrol with SIDE Primary School.
